Light up someone's life

Image
Venezia Italia Let not a day go bye without being nice to someone, Smile at a stranger and watch their face light up, you never know just how lonely they might be or how good or bad their day might have been. Pay an unexpected compliment to a friend and thank them for being there. Write a note of appreciation to your spouse or child and watch them light up inside. Hand a flower to an elderly person and see the smile it will bring upon their face- You never quite know just how long it will be before they go to their resting place. Call your parents, tell them how much you care, and share your life with them. Tell them you love them and you miss them so. Just wait and see what it does to them, they'll be happy to know. Reach out your arms and hug someone in need, it may not mend all their sorrows but it might help for tomorrow. So with each passing day, Light up someone's life. For these little gestures can help with some daily strife’s, There may be a time,...

Let go of worrying and blame.

One popular New Age premise tells you that “you create your own reality.” Sadly, this is often misunderstood to mean that when you are sick, you have somehow done this to yourself. Of course there are instances in which you bear more responsibility for your illness. Perhaps you made poor lifestyle choices in the past, such as smoking or excessive drinking or drug use. But setting aside these obvious examples, most of the time you really cannot know why you have become ill. Therefore, it is important not to add insult to injury by making yourself feel guilty. The real truth of this premise is that you do create your own reality, but only right now, in this present moment. You do this through the stories that you are telling yourself and identifying with. You do not create the scenery you see, only your reaction to it. You do not create the weather, but calling a day “miserable” makes you unhappy. Understanding that you are responsible for your own psychological and emotional reality ...

Every moment you have a choice.

Image
Venezia Italia Everything you know is based on what has already happened in your life. And yet, your only influence right now is over things that have not yet happened. The things that have already happened have gotten you to where you are right now. What you need to be concerned with, however, is where to go from here. Because you're so intimately familiar with your own past, it may seem that you have no choice but to continue moving in the same direction as before. But that is not true. Your future does not equal your past. Right now, there are an infinite number of paths which you can take. The one you're currently on is only one of them. Any of the rest are available to you. If you're completely satisfied with where you're going, then by all means keep on going that way. But there is no reason in the world why you have to keep following that same path if it is not bringing you full and lasting fulfillment. Every moment you have a choice, regardless o...

How to Be Positive

Image
People often wonder how to be positive in their thoughts and actions, especially when they are unhappy and unsatisfied, or when life is difficult and tough. They even find it hard to be positive when things go well. Most of them don't know how to be positive and what they need to do. Like every other subject, the know-how of how to be positive can be learned and the skill developed. It is all a matter of attitude and thinking, both of which can be changed. If we keeping thinking the same thoughts, they will eventually tend to manifest in our world. This means that if we desire good results we have to be careful of what we think. We have to stay and think positive. Begin by becoming aware of your thoughts, and exchanging your negative thoughts with positive ones. Substitute negativity for being positive, thoughts about poverty with thoughts about wealth, ignorance with understanding, disharmony with harmony and lack of freedom with freedom. Start saying, "I can", "...

Begin today by forgiving for good.

Image
Barcelona 2009 What is forgiveness? It’s understanding that you cannot go back and change the past and it’s accepting that all your experiences—no matter how traumatic, painful, or unhappy they may have been—are simply lessons from which to learn. Whether emotional, physical, or psychological, negative or positive, those lessons were meant to teach you how to be who you are in this moment—a wiser, more empowered you. You need to understand and accept that today you’re the person you are because of what you’ve learned. Once you accept those lessons— and truly learn from them —the negatives of yesterday will never affect you again. You won’t carry doubt, fear, and guilt. Instead you’ll be free. That freedom comes from forgiveness. Who is it that you need to forgive? Everyone. You need to forgive yourself for everything it is that you believe you’ve done wrong, for example, not giving love when someone needed it, not being supportive, creating negative energy in another person’s li...

Top 10 Ways to Raise Your Consciousness by Ronya Banks

Image
Pienza Toscana Italia Life can be a GIFT or a NIGHTMARE, depending on where you choose to operate from consciously. Practiced regularly, the following 10 tips will assist you in shining your beautiful unique light so brightly that your resulting raised consciousness will be a GIFT to yourself, humanity and the Cosmos. 1. Forgive yourself and others. Life is too short to hold on to regrets, grudges, miscommunications or disappointments…. . Free yourself by forgiving and letting go of any negative energy you’re holding on to about yourself and/or others. There are many ways to do this. One way is to write down anything you’re ready to let go of and ceremonially tear it into small pieces and throw it away as you forgive. You may even choose to verbally forgive anyone you’ve been resenting. Either way, the process of forgiving yourself and others will result in your feeling light and free, and consequently raise your vibration. 2. Practice gratitude and appreciation. Whatever you f...

The worth of our lives comes, not in what we do or who we know, but by ...WHO WE ARE.

Image
A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked. "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you - but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the 20 dollar note up. He then asked. "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "what if I do this?" He dropped it on theground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air. "My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. Nomatter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worth...

If You Wish............By Ralph Marston

Image
If you wish to be respected, then be ever respectful. If you wish to be understood, then sincerely understand others. If you wish to be appreciated, then be ever grateful. If you wish to be loved, then give love in each moment. If you wish to be wealthy, then act to create real value. If you wish to learn, then take time to teach. If you wish to climb higher, then lift others up. If you wish to be wise, then share what you know. Whatever you wish, life will surely give it. What you must do, though, is to truly live it. There is so much to live for and so much to see. You will have whatever you are willing to be.

Heaven Within by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.

Image
Montepulciano Toscana Italia Heaven is a state of mind, not a location, since Spirit is everywhere and in everything. You can begin making a conscious decision to look for the unfolding of Spirit in everything and everyone that you encounter. I personally do this by making an effort to look upon my world as if I were observing it through lenses that filter out the form and all of the material aspects of what I’m seeing, and I can only view the spiritual energy that allows what I’m noticing to exist. Try putting on these imaginary magical lenses and see how different everything appears. I now see spiritual energy in everyone I encounter. When I’m tempted to judge anyone, I remind myself to view them through my special lenses. When I can do so, all negative judgment dissolves. I feel more peaceful knowing that I’m not just this body that I’m destined to discard. I also feel the life-giving Spirit within me on a daily basis, and it’s exhilarating! Being more balanced spiritually and...

Let Go ...Takes Love

Image
To "let go" does not mean to stop caring, it means I can’t do it for someone else. To "let go" is not to cut myself off, it’s the realization I can’t control another. To "let go" is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences. To "let go" is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands. To "let go" is not to try to change or blame another, it is to make the most of myself. To "let go" is not to care for, but to care about. To "let go" is not to fix, but to be supportive. To "let go" is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being. To "let go" is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect their own destinies. To "let go" is not to be protective, it is to permit another to face reality. To "let go" is not to deny, but to accept. To "let g...

Focused less on what you need to do and more on what you need to be.

Image
How many times have we talked about all the things we believe or want, but deep down we were unwilling to integrate the qualities that would attract them? The following ten keys are guidelines. Read them and find ways to integrate them into your own life. You’ll notice that each one starts with the word be —for example, Be clear . That’s because they’re focused less on what you need to do and more on what you need to be. Be Clear. Clarity is one of the most important keys to manifesting what you want. If your thoughts aren’t clear, then the Universe , doesn’t know how or what to give you. If there’s something you’ve already determined for yourself, write a list of every detail you can think of, every attribute and characteristic that defines the goal. Look at this list often and add to it. Focus on the details as clearly as you can and imagine them in your mind. Be Open. Now you’re being asked to be open to anything the Universe may send in your direction that either amplifies or ...

Raise you energy level

Image
Monticchiello Toscana Italia 2008 Every thought you have has an energy that will either strengthen or weaken you. It's obviously a good idea to eliminate the thoughts that weaken you , since these thoughts are obstacles to creating a winning match with the universal , Supreme source of intention. Take a moment to ponder the meaning behind Anthony de Mello's observation in One Minute Wisdom :                                            Why is everyone here so happy except me ?                                             ''Because they have learned to see goodness ...

You change yourself for yourself

Image
All the years you have waited for them to "make it up to you" and all the energy you expended trying to make them change (or make them pay) kept the old wounds from healing and gave pain from the past free rein to shape and even damage your life. And still they may not have changed. Nothing you have done has made them change. Indeed, they may never change. Inner peace is found by changing yourself, not the people who hurt you. And you change yourself for yourself, for the joy, serenity, peace of mind, understanding, compassion, laughter, and bright future that you get."

Letting go ..........

Image
. . To let go isn't to forget, not to think about, or ignore.  It doesn't leave feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret.  Letting go isn't about winning or losing.  It's not about pride and it's not about how you appear, and it's not obsessing or dwelling on the past.  Letting go isn't blocking memories or thinking sad thoughts, and it doesn't leave emptiness, hurt, or sadness.  It's not about giving in or giving up. Letting go isn't about loss and it's not about defeat.  To let go is to cherish the memories, but to overcome and move on.  It is having an open mind and confidence in the future.  Letting go is learning and experiencing and growing.  To let go is to be thankful for the experiences that made you laugh, made you cry, and made you grow. It's about all that you have, all that you had, and all that you will soon gain.  Letting go is having the courage to accept change, and the strength to keep moving.  Le...

It’s change we resist.

Image
The greatest cause of anguish is fear. Your first step in conquering fear is to learn not to be frightened of fear itself. Start by seeing fear as your friend, not your tormentor. It’s OK to be scared at times. In fact, fear keeps you safe. It heightens your perception and allows you to take corrective action when needed. All fear stems from fear of death. It’s the death of things that scares us. Not just physical death, but the termination of familiar things—the end of a relationship, a job, a habit. Sometimes it’s a rhythm that’s about to change, or your location, or a feeling of certainty you’ve clung to. It’s change we resist. Yet change is the spiritual universe’s way of keeping you alive and fresh. We live in a rapidly developing world. If you’re not changing, life is leaving you behind. Things will get tougher, not easier. Once you can accept change and endings, and not see them as personal affronts, most of the fear will dissipate. By attempting to hang onto circumstances...

Choose the way of life by.....Leo Buscaglia.

Image
Choose the way of life.  Choose the way of love.  Choose the way of caring.  Choose the way of hope.  Choose the way of belief in tomorrow.  Choose the way of trusting.  Choose the way of goodness.  It's up to you.  It's your choice.  You can also choose despair.  You can also choose misery.  You can also choose making life uncomfortable for other people.  You can also choose bigotry.  But what for?  It doesn't make sense.  It's only self-flagellation.  But I warn you that if you decide to take full responsibility for your life, it's not going to be easy, and you're going to have to risk again.  Risk--the key to change. "To reach out to others is to risk getting involved."  What else in life is more important than becoming involved?  I don't want to stand on an island by myself.  The very fact that you and I are together means that we were meant to be that way.  Let's find ways of ...

Kindness

Image
The practice of loving kindness must find its root deep within us.  The story is told that Mohandas Gandhi once settled in a village and at once began serving the needs of the villagers who lived there.  A friend inquired if Gandhi's objectives in serving the poor were purely humanitarian.  Gandhi replied, "Not at all.  I am here to serve no one else but myself, to find my own self-realization through the service of these village folk." As Gandhi wisely points out, even as we serve others we are working on ourselves; every act, every word, every gesture of genuine compassion naturally nourishes our own hearts as well.  It is not a question of who is healed first.  When we attend to ourselves with compassion and mercy, more healing is made available for others.  And when we serve others with an open and generous heart, great healing comes to us

The Joys of Living ........ by Orison Swett Marden

Image
Resolve  every morning that you will get the most out of that day, not of some day in the future, when you are better off, when you have a family, when your children are grown up, when you have overcome your difficulties.  You never will overcome them all .  You will never be able to eliminate all the things which annoy, trouble, and cause friction in your life.  You will never get rid of all the little enemies of your happiness, the hundred and one little annoyances, but you can make the most of things as they are . The reason why our lives are so lean and poverty-stricken, so disappointing and ineffective, is because we do not really live in the day; we do not concentrate our energy, our ambition, our attention, our enthusiasm, upon the day we are living. Resolve to enjoy yourself to-day.  Enjoy to-day , and do not let the hideous shadows of to-morrow, the forebodings, and the things you dread, rob you of what is yours to-day--your inalienable right to be...

How does self-improvement apply to each of us?

Image
There is no one system or technique which applies equally across the board. There are numerous books, articles, teachers, techniques and schools of thought to guide us in our quest for self- improvement. There are a number of common threads running throughout all of these.  Here are just a few of them: *  Treat others as you wish to be treated. *  You become what you constantly think about. *  You determine what you are and what you will be by the choices you make. *  When you honestly and deeply believe something it will become true. *  Eat, breathe and live as though you were wealthy and you will become wealthy. *  When your main focus is on lack and poverty you will continue to be poor and lacking. *  Visualize what you wish as though it were true right now and not at some future date. *  Take action on your wishes (dreams, desires). *  Life is but a journey which is taken one step at a time.  All we ever have...

Approach life through positive eyes.

Image
We do a lot of vacillating between old ideas and new ways of thinking. Be patient with yourself through this process.  Beating yourself up only keeps you stuck.  It's better to build yourself up instead.  Anything you say or think is an affirmation.  Really be aware of your thoughts and your words; you might discover that a lot of them are very negative.  Many people tend to approach life through negative eyes.  They take an ordinary situation like a rainy day and say something like, "Oh what a terrible day."  It isn't a terrible day.  It's a wet day.  To create a wonderful day sometimes takes just a slight change in the way you look at it.  Be willing to let go of an old, negative way that you look at something, and look at it in a new, positive way.

Be optimist

Image
Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.  Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. Make all your friends feel there is something in them.  Look at the sunny side of everything. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your won. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.  Give everyone a smile.  Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger.

Risk more . . .

Image
Do not be afraid to shine. This world needs what you have to give. Open up the areas of your being; Expose them to yourself - to others.   You are valuable. You are unique. You have much to give. Do not be afraid to give it. As we risk ourselves, we grow. Each new experience is a risk. We can try, and maybe fail, And, as a result, grow- Or hold back and stagnate. You have the potential To be anything you want. You are free to choose. You are limited only by your fears. Let your dreams take over. Fly with the eagles. Soar into life. The world is waiting for you. By Fran Watson

Happiness.

Image
. “Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.  It’s how I arrange my mind.  It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away. Just for this time in my life.” Why not start building your happy memories today by choosing to be happy. Take charge of your thoughts today. It’s not your mind if you allow anyone and any media to fill it indiscriminately. It’s not your choice if you’re choosing between the options programmed for you to choose between. It’s past time to become the programmer of your own mind. To own happiness you must first get beyond all those negative thoughts and feelings that have been foisted upon you as a part and parcel of your enculturation. Begin today...

You've been given today

''Every morning, when we wake up, we have twenty-four brand-new hours to live.  What a precious gift!  We have the capacity to live in a way that these twenty-four hours will bring peace, joy, and happiness to ourselves and others.'' Thich Nhat Hanh. Each day we can wake up and choose to see life as a gift and to be fully present in that day.  We cannot always control the outcome, but we can control our reactions.  Each day we can bring all we have to that day, choosing to live it fully, seeing it as a great gift.  Each day we can train our mind not to obsess on regret, nor to worry for tomorrow but to be in this present moment.  Each day we can be grateful for what has happened that day.  And we can choose not to judge our lives from moment to moment (am I happy, successful, unhappy, a failure, good, bad) but simply to live our life.   John Izzo

Just for today. . ....by Sybil F. Partridge

Image
Just for today, I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once.  I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt I had to keep it up for a lifetime. Just for today, I will be happy.  This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that "most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be." Just for today, I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration. Just for today, I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires.  I will take my "luck" as it comes, and fit myself to it. Just for today, I will exercise my soul in three ways:  I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out.  I will do at least two things I don't want to do--just for exercise.  I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; the...

The River of Feelings--an excerpt Thich Nhat Hanh.

Image
Our feelings play a very important part in directing all of our thoughts and actions.  In us, there is a river of feelings, in which every drop of water is a different feeling, and each feeling relies on all the others for its existence.  To observe it, we just sit on the bank of the river and identify each feeling as it surfaces, flows by, and disappears. There are three sorts of feelings--pleasant, unpleasant, and neutral.  When we have an unpleasant feeling, we may want to chase it away.  But it is more effective to return to our conscious breathing and just observe it, identifying it silently to ourselves:  "Breathing in, I know there is an unpleasant feeling in me.  Breathing out, I know there is an unpleasant feeling in me."  Calling a feeling by its name, such as "anger," "sorrow," "joy," or "happiness," helps us identify it clearly and recognize it more deeply. We can use our breathing to be in contact with out feelings and ...
