7 WAYS TO HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERY DAY

A Day where you felt upbeat and energized; where everything fell into place and you thought you could take on the world?
Then there are those other days. You wake up on the wrong side of the bed and everything starts falling apart. It’s just one bad thing after another.
There is a science to having a great day. So you do have control over having more good days than bad ones.
Start by incorporating these seven practices into your daily routine. They will help your day become a great one. Don’t leave your day up to chance.
7 Ways to Have a Great Day, Every Day!
  1. Smile!
Even if you don’t feel like smiling, your body benefits. Your body can’t differentiate between a genuine smile and a forced one.
You can feel happy just by smiling.
When you laugh, your brain releases endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals in the brain capable of many amazing things. These compounds fight off stress and are appetite modulators. They release sex hormones and enhance your immune response. Endorphins can bring on feelings of euphoria that put you in a better mood.
Every time you smile, you fool your body into thinking it’s happy. If you don’t have a reason to smile, think of the last comedy you saw. What was that scene that made you laugh out loud?
Keep smiling! It’s contagious. Your smile will make other people around you happy too!
2.                   Banish Negative Thoughts
Do you doubt yourself or find it hard to think positive? Try creating a positive mantra. A mantra is just a word or phrase you repeat to yourself. Choose an optimistic statement that makes you feel good, such as “I am happy. I am loved. I am beautiful.”
Have your mantra ready for when those negative thoughts appear. Then, when you feel down, use your mantra and keep repeating it. By concentrating on your mantra, there’s no room left for negative thoughts.
3.                   Pay It Forward
Put a smile on someone’s face with a simple act of kindness. Giving helps us connect to one another and connecting is a core need for everyone.
Share a kind word, pay a compliment, or reach out with a helping hand. The more you engage in acts of kindness, the better you feel.
Two studies prove the health benefits of giving. In the first study, people ‘gave’ five times a day. It didn’t matter how big or small the act of giving was. Over a period of 6 weeks, the participants reported an increase in happiness.
In another study, people were handed a small sum of money. Half the group had to spend it on others. The other half had to spend it on themselves. Those that spent money on others were found to be happier.
Giving is good! Science refers to this as the ‘helpers high’. It’s that euphoric feeling that’s followed by a sense of calm when you help others. So lend a hand to someone, anyone.
4.                   Exercise Your Brain
Using your brain not only engages you, but it also makes life interesting. Learn something new or do something different.
Exercise both sides of your brain on a regular basis.
Are you creative? Try an analytical task like a Sudoku puzzle or a game of chess. Are you into numbers? Take a painting class or learn an instrument.

5.                   Give Thanks
Give thanks in all you do. Gratitude is a great way to boost your mood.
Start when you wake. Come up with five things you are thankful for.
Can’t think of anything? Begin with the simple things like, “Thank you for the people in my life,” or “Thank you for the roof over my head.” Gratitude is a game changer .
Write them down in a daily gratitude journal. You’ll get a boost going back through and reading all the things you are grateful for in your life.
When you focus on being grateful, you feel happier.
6.                   Break Up with Your TV
Turn off the darn TV! It’s hard to stay happy with so much negativity on TV. Reality TV is a good example. It’s anything but real. Our behaviors become influenced in a negative way by watching it. All for the sake of higher ratings.
With 24-hour news, the broadcasts seem to highlight bad news. And there’s always something dreadful happening somewhere in the world. When you surround yourself with bad news and violence, you feel insecure and out of control.
Don’t let TV drag you down the rabbit hole of negativity.
7.                   Turn It Up
Music can influence your state of being.
That’s why people listen to an upbeat melody when they exercise or play a lullaby to get their baby to fall asleep. Music also influences your mental state. Do you remember a time when you heard a song that brought back a happy memory from your childhood? I bet it brought a smile to your face.
Music is a vibration. If you listen to music at a lower vibration, it lessens your energy and vigor. Increase your energy by listening to something that vibrates at a higher frequency.
We respond to music by resonating with it. So whatever you want to hear, make sure it feeds your soul.
What Are You Waiting for?
If you want to experience more good days than bad, it’s not that hard. Incorporate these practices into your daily routine. You can make every day your best day ever!
